With the deepening of reform in China, Standardization is experiencing a key reforming. On 23 February 2017, the Standardization Law of China (Draft for Revision) was approved by the executive meeting of the State Council and to be submitted for reading at the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, before it can be published.

The current Standardization Law of China was released in 1988, very much lagging behind the standardization development. China launched the standardization reform in 2014. In March 2015, the State Council issued the Plan for Deepening the Standardization Reform, setting out reform priorities and key measures for the reform.
