At the meeting of 3GPP RAN#81 in Mid September in Australia, CAICT (China Academy of Information and Communications Technology) introduced the standardization situation of BDS II (Beidou Navigation Satellite System), which covered 24 completed specifications on technology, function and test. And also indicated and explained the difference between BDS II and BDS III. The proposal of BDS III standardization was passed based on consensus and the RAN2 working group will carry out the BDS III standardization led by CAICT for the upcoming accomplishment of BDS III in 2020, meanwhile the BDS II standards will be retained for compatibility.
